About us

Granada Cyclery was purchased by Ken in 1978. Many people ask the reason for the name “Granada Cyclery” and the answer is, that at the time, changing the name was too expensive, especially to a 19 year old kid with a dream. Thus the shop name remained. Under Ken's ownership Granada's first location was on Fifth Street between 1978 and 1982. It was a small but good start. In 1982 Ken moved the shop to First Capitol Street and stayed there until 1990. After outgrowing this location, Granada then moved again to St. Andrews plaza and were there for fifteen years! During these fifteen years Ken also had two other locations. One store located on Olive Blvd. and also a store named “Bicycle Basics” in O’Fallon. Ken finally decided to consolidate the shops and moved to the North Service Road location in 2005, purchasing the land and building. After 15 years we outgrew our location at 4798 North Service Road. In October 2018 we started build out on our new location at 235 Mid Rivers Mall Drive. On January 2, 2019 we opened our doors to our biggest best location to date! On September 1, 2019 Granada Cyclery was purchased by Brad Blackwood, son of Ken Blackwood. Granada plans to stay in this location and as a store we desire to continue to grow the cycling community through experience, friendliness, and gratitude!

Why We Do What We Do!

“We are a group of people who love bicycles! We do it because we like to help people change their lives and lead a healthy/active lifestyle.”

A Truly Family Owned Business

Here at Granada every one of the Blackwood children have worked at the shop at some point in their lives.  Most of the employees are long time customers and close family friends. Our staff consists of tri-athletes to ex-pro riders to Katy Trail causal bike riders. You will see us just as we are, a big family, complete with us picking on each other to loving each other. We strive to hold true to important values and end each day knowing we are a shop of integrity. We like the atmosphere and comradery that family brings. This is also why we are a non-commission store; our focus is to get you on the correct bicycle for your needs… not the most expensive for our own benefit!  Our adult bikes range from the $400s all the way to over $12,000- from a comfort bike to a tri-bike, we are positive that we have what you need.
